Steven Smellsalot was a corrupt billionaire CEO who purchased the House of Snax intellectual property and real estate for millions of dollars from a holding company based in the Cayman Islands shortly before Episode #72 of Diet Coke & Lilith's House of Snax. All of the money went to the holding company. Until Steven's death in Episode #75, the podcast was subjected to several unwanted editorial choices by Steven.

According to Steven, the name Smellsalot is French and therefore pronounced "smalls-a-loo," but he was unable to answer what part of France his family was from,[2] and his ex-wife Jennifer (who kept his last name) asserted that it is in fact pronounced "smells-a-lot."[3]

Podcast Changes[]

In order to afford his investment in the House of Snax, Steven leveraged debt from a group of investors in the cryptosphere from Russia.[2] The podcast episodes therefore had to be sponsored by large companies such as Raytheon and DraftKings.

Since Diet Coke and Lilith became Steven Smellsalot's employees, he chose the snacks for them to review during the episodes and had the final say on their ratings.[2] Snacks that they wanted to review, such as Mountain Dew Pitch Black, were put on the wayside in favor of snacks that Steven was able to secure advertorial deals with. "Would not buy" was considered too strong of language for potential advertisers.

The usual snack descriptions by Diet Coke were replaced with new recordings by Kevin Sorbo, who openly added right wing propaganda to the episodes. Diet Coke and Lilith were not aware of this change until Episode #74, when they disavowed anything Kevin said. Tony Cutz was still editing the podcast during these episodes, but he was not responsible for this change.

When Steven entered the House of Snax basement, he immediately paid Snack-Keeper Jr one hundred dollars and had them sign a contract making them his employee as well. Snack-Keeper Jr was required to laugh for 80 hours per week or they would be fired. They also were unable to legally represent the House of Snax as a snack lawyer against Steven Smellsalot due to a conflict of interests.[2]

Death[]

Steven was not able to interfere with the podcast as much during Episode #74 because he was busy with one of his other podcasting ventures, How Did This Get Made?; one of the Paul Scheer models detonated and killed three of the engineers piloting Mecha Scheer. This gave Diet Coke and Lilith the idea to enact a sabotage campaign against Mecha Scheer to keep Steven busy and away from the House of Snax. They asked Lilith 2.0 for help, who responded, "Understood. I know just what to do."

The following week, during a voicemail that he left for Diet Coke and Lilith while he was leaving the Earwolf offices after testing the new Scheer mech, Steven was violently murdered by Lilith 2.0. For legal reasons, what she did to Steven had nothing to do with Diet Coke and Lilith, but it did solve a problem that they don't have anymore.[4]
